#D Vintage Amazonian Wauja Indigenous Redware Ceramic Bowl Brazil

From a private collection Vintage Wauja traditional Amazonian Indigenous ceramic bowl, structurally associated with the distinct pottery traditions of the Xingu River Basin in Brazil. The region is famous for its rich multi-ethnic heritage, where communities like the Wauja (Waurá) and Asurini do Xingu craft unique hand-modeled vessels decorated with geometric stylizations. Indigenous artisans traditionally mix local riverbed clay with organic materials like cauxi (freshwater sponge ash) or tree bark ash to prevent the clay from cracking.  And  then meticulously hand-painted with natural mineral and plant pigments to represent elements from nature or ancestral cosmology.
