Superb hand carved from one piece of wood Makonde three-legged figurine stool or table from Tanzania (#6) with detailed face carvings and etchings on legs.
Good condition, has old restoration.

The Makonde value their stools, which are used for everyday. They are very well known for their art, which is usually complex in design and figurative. The stools are abstract carved and enhanced by empty spaces, the patterns and design express both the owner's gender and status in the tribal community.
