This large hand-carved African Tribal Art sculpture depicts a Standing Senufo Tyepka maternity figure from the Ivory Coast. Made from a single piece of wood, it stands at 58" tall and features a woman holding her belly with her hand. Though there are minor wood openings and loss, the sculpture is in overall good condition. The figure is a representation of the Tyepka society, a social association amongst the Senufo People, and is used to honor women and their maternal role in ceremonies and festivals. Its dimensions are 9" wide and 6" deep.
