#5267 African Cast Bronze Vessel Kuduo Ashanti Tribe Ghana 12" H

This superbly ornate cast bronze vessel, known as a kuduo, was a treasured possession of the kings and courtiers of the Akan kingdoms. Not only were gold dust and nuggets held in these vessels, but also items of immense personal value and significance. The vessel depicts a seated royalty under an umbrella surrounded by their staff, with the figure of four chameleons serving as handles to bring luck and protection. At 12" tall and 6.25" in diameter, it is a remarkable sight in person.
