This African tribal art piece is a fine old Lobi stool and headrest from Burkino Faso. Likely used by an important man of the Lobi people, it features a handle and shows varying patina on the carrying handle and the seated part, indicating a long history of use. Upon the owner's death, the stool would have been blessed and placed in a family shrine, as per the animist African culture, for which the stool or headrest symbolizes the soul. This unique work of art displays a lifetime of use and makes an excellent example. Dimensions: 9.5" w by 6.5" h by 4.25" d.
