# 3500 Ceremonial Skirt Kirdi Beaded Cache Sex Pikuran Cameroon 17" W by 8.5"H

This ceremonial skirt or apron is intricately hand beaded with vibrant hues, arranged in lines and diamond shapes. It measures 17" W by 8.5" H and can be displayed in various ways, such as being hung on a wall or framed. Until 1961, governmental regulations required Cameroon women to cover their pubic area with an apron known as a cache sex. Despite the rule, the traditional beaded form is still widely worn today. In the Mandara mountains, the Matakam women secure their cache sex belt with a fiber belt.
