A superb hand-carved wooden Chi Wara (or Ci Wara) antelope headdress associated with the Bamana people of Mali, West Africa. This stylized representation of the mythical half-man, half-antelope creature from Bamana tradition embodies the legendary figure who taught humans the art of agriculture.

Crafted from dark patinated wood with intricate openwork geometric patterns, this piece features two upward-extending horn elements and an architectural base structure. Traditionally worn attached to a woven cap during ritual agricultural dances performed by accomplished young farmers, it was used to promote successful harvests and instill community values.

A significant example of West African sculptural artistry and cultural heritage.
