Superb and unique hand-carved wooden box from the Dogon tribe of Mali, featuring a double-door design traditionally used for storing medicine or tobacco leaves. This striking piece stands on three legs with a functional latch closure.

Adorned with high-relief carved details including stylized crocodiles or lizard  on the doors—sacred symbols in Dogon mythology. A protective 4 head in one  sculpture crowns the top, while the back showcases intricate crocodile figures and representations of ancestor spirits, the Nommo.
