#1156 Vintage Fang Mask Elongated Face Gabon African Mask 29" H

This vintage  Fang mask / Gabon   features  elongated heart-shaped associated with the Ngil society, adorned with white, black, and brown pigmentation. Measuring 29 inches tall, 12 inches wide, and 8 inches deep.

 Traditionally donned by spiritual practitioners during sacred ceremonies, these masks functioned as protective talismans against malevolent forces . The aesthetic qualities of such masks captivated early twentieth-century avant-garde artists, most notably Pablo Picasso, whose Cubist innovations drew considerable inspiration from the formal properties and conceptual depth of African tribal expressions.
