This beautifully styled BWA antelope mask from Burkina Faso, the BWA people, also known as Bobo Ule, carve masks which represent protective bush spirits. The masks are painted with a clay based paint. During ceremonies, highly skilled dancers wear these masks. Ceremonies are performed on various occasions which include initiations, harvests and funerals.
