Superb African Igbo IKORODO mask/Crest Mask Nigeria
IGBOs live in the forest of southeastern Nigeria. The Igbo religion includes the supreme creator god "CHUKU".
This IGBO mask called IKORODO in the Nsukka region of southern Nigeria, glorifies youth and beauty. Thanks to narrow slits for the eyes, a face with sharp features coated with white (kaolin), teeth cut into points, scarifications and tattoos. The cap is made up of three high openwork fins surmounted by circular protuberances, hence the name of the so-called "cap". the white color of the agdo-gho-mmwo mask relates to ancestral spirits "mmwo" means "spirit of the dead".
